Grapevine Middle School
Pony Band
January 14, 2020
Dear GMS Pony Band Families,
We have been so impressed on how quickly the students are learning their Ensemble music and lines out of the book! Thank you for all of your support in establishing a good practice schedule! We are seeing results from a lot of our students.
We want to CONGRATULATE SHYAM MISHRA, Honors Band Bass Clarinet, for winning the GMS Spelling Bee!!! Way to go Shyam! See his picture below!
8th Grade Band Parents, please read the Important Information below from CHHS and GHS Band Directors.
We kicked off our Beginner Karate on Monday and already have a few students with their White Belt!! Sooo exciting! Students can submit pass-offs on Canvas on the Google form.
Our Advanced Band members listened to the entire Concert program for the Spring Semester on their block day. New music is coming next week. Advanced bands do not have sectionals next week. Sectionals will begin the week of January 25th.
ALL students are learning their Ensemble Music! We ARE going to hold Ensemble Contest and it will look different than years past. We will hold it at GMS and will send details as soon as they are finalized. The number one priority is your students' safety and we will do the best we can to provide that environment for them.
Our FanPledge Fundraiser kick-off date is January 25th and we will hold it during the school day. Details will be sent home soon. We need your help so please save up to donate. This is by far our favorite fundraiser and we have been doing it for a few years now. It is easy and you don't have to buy anything you do not want. :-)
ALL STUDENTS: Instruments and Band Binders need to go home every day to practice and for cleaning purposes. It is imperative that all students practice as much as they can. They need a lot of repetition and we do not want to lose the momentum, so please remind your student to keep up with their practice routine (posted in Canvas modules). Here is a practice guide for parents to help your student at home.
As always, it is an honor to be your student's band director!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Gish, Mr. Holmes & Mr. Drewry
